Hi, I lodged my tax return a month ago. But for some reasons I didn’t get any updates from the ATO. Last year I got my refund in 14 day after lodged. This year I don’t know why. It’s passed 30 days now. I saw some people having this problem as well. Please do something

Hey @Jordan_3534,

Most returns lodged online take between 2 to 4 weeks to process. Sometimes there are delays in processing. We have a list of common reasons for delays available on our website.

It sounds like your return if still processing. So, if you have your myGov linked to ATO online, you can keep an eye on your tax return from there. It'll tell you what stage of processing it's up to.

We can't speed up the process even if you call us. Don't worry though, if we need anything from you, we'll be in touch.

Check out our article for more information on what each stage of processing means.

A good rule of thumb to follow for tax systems is "money now is better then money later" - AWM, because they can gain interest on it. Following this rule, the longer the ATO takes to refund your repayment the more interest the can receive. Yes, you are eventually refunded, however, if this occurs on a large scale the interest accrued will be substantial for the ATO. It would be in their interest to take as long as possible.

I am also waiting from 3 months. I am trying to call ATO from last week but my call is not getting connected to ATO representative even after holding for 30 to 40 minutes listening to hold music. Was anyone able to talk to ATO guys and got any refund recently?
