Hello,

I'm an OVHC with a 482 visa. As part of my visa requirements, I am required to have an OVHC even though, I’m entitled to Reciprocal Medicare. I was under the assumption that the OVHC would help reduce the Medicare levy surcharge as it is a private health care insurance. It turns out my health insurance could not be used against the Medicare Surcharge Levy. Is there a solution to this? As I feel I’m paying huge amounts towards to surcharge and also private health insurance.

any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hi @Shah243

There is no way around this 😔

If you don't have a complying health insurance policy, then you will have to pay MLS.

Check out this link that has more info about MLS.
