Today I went to complete my FY 23/24 tax return. My tax accountant informed me my TFN has been locked. I’ve had no correspondence on this matter, nor ami aware why this might have happened. Can you advise why this has happened, can it be unlocked, why was there no correspondence provided to me on this matter.

Hello @thecronins,

Sure, we can help guide you.

The lock can get put on due to many different reasons. A common reason is if there has been suspicious activity on your account. Once we allocate your record to someone to investigate, they would then reach out to you.

The lock goes on to prevent any and all people from accessing your account without being verified first. This is to stop anything happening to your account or in your name without your knowledge.

Yes, you can access your account again! You can contact the Client Identity Support Centre and verify your identity. They'll give you access back for a temporary 48hr window.
