I'm a retiree age 68 and receiving account based super income stream payment tax free.

If I go back to my country permanently, can I still get this income stream payment tax free ?

What if I commute it to lump sum payment ?

Hi @shim.syd

That's a tricky one!!!!

First, you'll have to ask your super fund if they'll pay your super (income stream) into a foreign bank account.

If they don't, then you'll have to consider withdrawing it as a lump sum into your Australian bank account.

As an Australian citizen, whether you live here or overseas, the same super rules apply.

You'll also need to find out about tax you may have to pay overseas if you take it as a lump sum.

Here's some more info on international tax agreements.
