Hi, I left Australia in May and I am currently struggling to do my tax return. I have finally managed to get back into my mygov account without my Australian phone number (which I no longer have access to). However, when I try to link ATO to mygov it states that my secret details are not what is on the ATO records, and I am unable to call the number provided to get a linking code as my UK phone contract doesn't allow international calls. Is there any other way that I can link my accounts to be able to file my tax return?
Hi @rubymaec
When answering the questions specific to you, it matches your answers to our records.
If they don't match, then you can't link.
The only other way is to get a linking code, and you can only do this by reaching out to us on our overseas line.
If you're not able to do this, then maybe think about lodging your return another way.
You can lodge a paper return or have an Australian tax agent lodge your return on your behalf 😊
Here's some info on other ways to lodge your return.
