Hi, we have a vendor who quoted two ABNs on their sales tax invoice. One ABN is unregistered for GST and the other one registered for GST. They said the registered ABN is a partnership and the unregistered ABN is a trading name. I don't think it is right though because they have two ABNs, therefore the ABN that is unregistered for GST is not a trading name of the partnership but instead a separate entity. They have invoiced us with GST, so I have decided to take the GST up and will assume that we have purchased from the partnership (registered) not the unregistered entity. Can a business quote two ABNs on their sales tax invoice?
Hi @JCam,
No, a business cannot quote two ABNs on the one sale invoice. If there are 2 vendors, each will need to issue a sale invoice with their ABN on it.
If one of the entities isn't registered for GST, they shouldn't be charging GST.

Hi Wendy,
What should I do when I receive an invoice where they quote two ABN numbers?
For example, I bought fuel and coffee from one United gas station and on the invoice they quote their Store ABN and "Fuel ABN". Are gas stations exception and allowed to quote multiple ABN numbers on one invoice?
