Hi there,

I was working and living in the UK for several years. I moved back to Australia in May this year, I worked for one month in Australia in the last tax year (2023-24). I was tax resident in the UK until May.

I paid income tax in the UK and was not a sole trader. I am currently filling out my tax return. Do I need declare the income and tax I paid in the UK prior moving back to Australia? How do I make sure that I do not get taxed twice?

One minor detail the tax year in the UK is slight different from in Australia, it runs from April to April. I am not sure if I will be able to get info on how much I was paid within the Australian tax year.
