Hi. My partner earns foreign income and registered for GST. However, she doesn't need to pay GST as she's providing services overseas.

If she buys a $30,000 car for her business, can she claim back the GST amount on her Business Acitivity Statement even though she doesn't pay GST?

Hi @ersan00,

Yes, she can.

However, the amount of GST claimable depends on whether the vehicle is solely for business use, or both business and personal.

If the car is used for both business and personal, you will only be able to make a partial GST claim based on the business use of the vehicle.

If the vehicle is solely business use, then you can claim full GST credit. Remember you need to also have a tax invoice.
