I'm a couple months away from being able to get Youth Allowance (Student) from Centrelink and I'm a bit concerned about how I'm going to report my ''self-employment'' income from Centrelink from Doordash.

I work a causal job, and when I don't get shifts I'd do a few hours on Doordash for the week to cover rent. So, my income from ''self-employment'' varies a lot. Some weeks I'd earn $200 for the week, and sometimes I'd go months without earning anything. I've got a couple questions:

  1. If I stop doing Doordash before I'm able to claim Youth Allowance, do I have to tick that I'm self employed?
  2. If I keep doing Doordash, is there a way to lodge fortnightly returns? So I don't get a reduction in payments for youth allowance.

Hi @cwDD2024,

You need to speak to Centrelink about how to report your Doordash income to them.

If you have an active ABN, you’d still need to let Centrelink know even if you’re not working under it.

We don't do fortnightly returns. You report to Centrelink fortnightly for jobseeker payment.
