Hello everyone,

My superannuation consists of ASX listed securities held via a well-known wrap platform. I would like to establish an SMSF and transfer my ASX listed securities into it. Will this trigger a CGT event? (Note: Given there is no change in beneficial ownership, I would think not?)

Yes - CGT disposal by super fund

Can be true for avoiding stamp duty on real property transferred from SMSF to member,

but never for CGT on disposal by super fund.

Members do not own the assets in the super fund - super fund assets support a liabiity for member's interest.
