Bit of a story here;

We recently found out our SMSF fund manager has gone AWOL, dumped the superfund in the paddock and walked away from his business. We were paying him $200 a month to manage.

No Tax was done on his behalf this last financial year after draining our accounts with fees (and not doing any work, which we had to do for him)

We have now engaged a new SMSF Super Tax accountant to take over the tax side of things while we self manage. However we cannot give them access - by RAM - AuthorisationManager.gov.au - due to the strength of the new MYID app.

Neither my wife or myself have a passport to upgrade it to strong, however we have done everything else thinking that would get us sorted.

We have no need for a passport @ $398 each, just to get a strong MYID account.

Totalling nearly $800, definetly will be once the gov charge the credit card 1.5% on top.

then add my (at this stage over $500 of my personal wages down).

Surely this Govermnent cant charge us to access our accounts like this. this is ridiculous. In a time that everyone is struggling this is an extremely inappropriate system, as well as extremely time consuming for your everyday worker - how one has over 5 hours within business hours to get this not even resolved is beyond me, I have lost a full days wages due to this screw around of a system, my boss isnt too happy either.

I have spent that last 5 hours being bounced around ATO phonelines, with 50 minute wait times, for a 5 minute conversation, to find out that department can't help me, I get disconnected or they forward me onto a phone number that needs a passcode.

Im absolutely mind blown.
