Hi,

I am a foreign resident for tax purposes.

For non-residents, the ATO site says:

(1) The franked amount of dividends you are paid or credited are not subject to Australian income and withholding taxes.

(2) You should not include the amount of any franked dividend or any franking credit on your Australian tax return.

I own ASX ETFs that are not 100% franked.

Their dividend information is pre-filled in my tax return and tax is calculated on the "franked distribution from trusts" (13C).

Since this is the franked amount of the distribution, I would like to know - in light of the ATO rules above - if I should be taxed on this or am I expected to remove this data?

Thanks for your help,

Regards, Dan

Hi @dantax

If your pre-fill info is wrong you should get in touch with the companies who have reported this info and ask them to correct it.

This is the best option because if you delete the info yourself, we may add it back in based on the info we hold.

If they don't already know you should let them know your tax residency status and provide your overseas address.
