One of the options to apply for a TFN is through Australian post after you finish your online application form, but when I arrived at the designated Australian post near me, the staff said that my application is already done and there's nothing for them to do because I've already answered everything online and I already have an ATO receipt ID. But on the website, it say that I still have to go to Australian post for an interview. What do I do now? Do I just wait for my TFN?

Did you follow these steps to apply for your TFN as a resident? You'll get an application reference number when you complete this particular online form to apply through Australia Post. You then need to print the summary and go to your interview with your ID docs. If you're certain this is what you've done then your application hasn't been finalised. Approach the post office again or try a different one if you feel uncomfortable.


If you have a foreign passport you also apply online but it's different to the Aus post process. Check this link for more info.
