Clarification on Remote Area Mortgage Interest Benefit

Hi.

I work in Alice Springs. I have recently bought a house in Alice Springs which is my residence. I am trying to avail remote area mortgage interest benefit. My understanding is that 50% of the interest paid can be salary sacrificed as uncapped amount above and beyond standard 9010 AUD salary sacrifice. My Payroll officer told me that it is capped to 18019.82.

Can somebody please clarify it for me and give me the ATO weblink explaining it so that I can forward it to my Payroll?
