I am trying to find out if I am entitled to an Australian pension for the 9 years that i worked in Australia in the 1980s. I am a UK citizen back living in the UK.

Any help much appreciated,

Thanks

Lynn

Hey @PURPLETED,

Are you or were you ever a permanent resident of Australia? 🤔

To qualify for the Centrelink Age Pension:

you must be at least 67.

been a permanent resident for at least 10 years and have lived in Aust for 5 consecutive years during that PR.

your assessable income must be less than $65,020 for a single person, or $99,382 for a couple.

meet the assets test. If you’re a home owner, singles can have up to $695,500 and couples $1,045,500. If you’re not a home owner, singles can have up to $947,500 and couples $1,297,500

Hi

I was a permanent resident but I think for probably only 9 years and lived there all that time, except for holidays. I retained my permanent residency for a few years after I left by returning within 3 years but when the rules later changed, I lost it. My assessable income would be less thatn $65,020.
