If I applied for an early tax return on December 5th, when can I complete the return? I already know that it takes up to 50 business days. But December and January have a lot of holidays. I wonder when it can be completed.

If you've lodged by paper, you're right! It generally takes 50 business days to process the return once they actually receive it.
Keep in mind the ATO shut down from 24 Dec -2 Jan, so it seems you're only halfway through the waiting period. Once the timeframe has passed then you could follow it up. But for now I reckon just sit tight!
