My dad has an acquired brain injury (from 25 years old) and now dementia and I am his carer and have his POA and his nominee for Centrelink - he has a current my gov account however we cannot link it to the ATO as we are unable to provide the required two answers - all the information I have is from 1997-2001 and apparently this is different to what is recorded. There is no way he will be able to talk on the phone to obtain the linking code

Centrelink has advised that we need to provide exit statements for his superannuation (in the process of looking at homes for him) of which he has no records of and apparently these should be in his tax record. Is there an email address that I could send the POA and ID etc to be able to obtain a linking code - as I cannot get one over the phone as I am not a nominee for the ATO.

Hey @braynor,

You won't be able to do that.

What you could do to get the info you need is lodge a NAT 2476 Lost Super Search form to the ATO, but you'd still need to be an authorised contact on their ATO record.

If they have ATO-held super, you probably won't be told unless you're added as an authorised contact, but if they have open super accounts, the superfunds will be notified of a third party request and it'll be up to them if they decide to reach out to you directly. 👌
