Since the passing of my father in law, and possibly for years before this, my mother in law has not claimed or received a refund of franking credits attached to Telstra Dividends. The unclaimed franking credit refunds go back to at least 2013/2014 financial year and possibly as far back as 2007/08 financial year. I note the paper claim for refund forms are available back to 2004. My question is, can my mother in law claim the unclaimed refund of franking credits back to 2007/08 financial year or is there a limit on such claims?
Most likely not a problem, either you're doing a late lodgment or amending. You can do amendments to refund of franking credits online, if that fails you can try via post. https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals-and-families/your-tax-return/instructions-to-complete-your-tax-return/mytax-instructions/supporting-documents-for-my-tax/refund-of-franking-credit-amendment
