Hi,

I used to be a temporary resident in Australia, I thought I had lodged my final tax return when I left years ago but I recently saw that I have returns to lodge even though I have left. I do have a regular Australian bank account/savings account (I don't have any stocks or such) as I was thinking of maybe returning at some point and it said I didn't have to close my bank account as I left.

I have tried to do the different tests to find out if I am eligible to lodge tax or not and I can't really figure it out. I would be very thankful if someone could help me. Do I still need to lodge a tax return? In my oldest return when I did it it said I had $0.00 to lodge. I have three more to lodge from previous years, but should I on this question "Will you need to lodge an Australian tax return in future years?" answer "No (this is my final return)" ?

Also should I fill in Non-lodgment advice and click "Select the relevant financial year/s to submit non-lodgment advice/s:" For the other tax returns?

Hope someone is understanding my questions. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

use the if you need to lodge a return tool here for each year outstanding. If you answer all the questions it will tell you if you need to lodge for a particular year. If you can't understand the questions you may need to engage a registered tax agent in Australia to help you. Some can work remotely but you will need to verify your identity.

If you do not need to lodge for one or all outstanding years you will need to submit a non-lodgment advice for each outstanding year separately or in bulk.

Best wishes
