My business partner and I already have an individual MyID account each. Our question is whether we can use on our our existing accounts, or if we must create a new MyID account for the business with a separate password, please? This is to be able to submit our business activity statement online

I'm going to assume it's not a sole trader business.

Using your MyID

  • If it is strong, you can do it online
    • You would need to go into Relationship Authorisation Manager and follow the steps for adding
    • Log in with your MyID
    • Link your business entity such as company, trust, partnership
    • Go to ATO online service for Business
    • Now you would be able to see the [business entity's] BAS
  • If it is standard, you will need to call them to manually link with your business entity
    • Make sure to have a couple of ID documents and ABN ready for verification
    • Once you gone through the process, you would have temporary authorisation (I think it is for 1 year)
    • You would need to log in before expiry to renew it. If it expires you would need to manually link again.
    • Go to ATO online service for Business
