Hi there, I often have to use my own car to travel to alternative workplaces as a work car is not available. My workplace will not reimburse me for km travelled as it is less than 37km travelled as what it takes to get to my regular work location. I may travel 35 km to an alternative location, but I cannot claim through my timesheet as it is 2km less than what I would be to get to work. Can I claim this through my tax return.

Hi @NattyW,

Have a read through this page on expenses you can deduct.

Any expenses you claim must be for work-related trips. You can claim for trips between workplaces to perform your duties.

You have to be able to show that you spent the money yourself and keep records. On the linked page we explain how to calculate your deductions (there are two options - the cents per kilometre method or logbook method).
