I was automatically opted in to PAYG instalments by the ATO based on my 2023 tax return, which included an injection of FHSS release amounts. I received an original instalment for Oct–Dec 2024 of $1,856, calculated from that assessment.
In March I submitted a variation for the Jan–Mar 2025 quarter: I estimated my total tax for the year as $2,830 (based on no further FHSS release this year), used reason code 99 (significant change in income), and paid the varied amount of $266. After making that payment I exited the PAYG instalment system altogether.
Yet when I view my ATO homepage today, the original $1,856 instalment still appears as overdue, with no due date shown.
Questions
- Will my variation or exit automatically clear the earlier quarter’s instalment?
- Or do I need to contact the ATO directly to have the $1,856 reconciled?
