I retired, withdrew all super, never ever want another super fund as they treated me like a criminal, have secured casual work, and want to know if I can either refuse super or have it paid into my bank account

It's disappointing to hear you've had a poor experience with super, @LaceyLulu , but I'd have to suggest it's extremely atypical given so many millions of separate accounts exist in Australia.

If your employer is obliged to pay the super guarantee amounts, yes, you'll need to open a super account for each of these, i.e. the 11.5 per cent (soon 12 per cent) payment.

But there are certainly funds available from great companies in Australia, and you should probably look for one offering good returns with low fees, perhaps even no fees from a fund that refunds its administration charges for those with low balances. This ATO will help you choose a suitable fund.
