If I'm an employee of an Australia business, my paid parental leave payments will be paid via my employer. However, given I will be earning significantly less in the financial year, can I request my employer to use the minimum 15% tax rate? Do they have to tax my paid parental leave at my usual salary tax rate?

I understand I can get this back at tax time, but this doesn't help me whilst I'm on unpaid maternity leave..
