Hi,

I’m seeking urgent advice regarding my wife’s Tax File Number (TFN) application.

She submitted her TFN application online over six weeks ago via the "ATO TFN application or enquiry" form. She is currently residing in Australia on a Bridging Visa A with no work restrictions and was not required to attend a post office or provide any additional documents.

After completing the online form, she received an on-screen confirmation message stating:

“Your TFN application or enquiry has been successfully submitted,” along with an ATO receipt ID. The message also advised that a letter confirming her TFN would be sent once the application was processed and that we should call 13 28 61 if it had not arrived within 28 days.

However, it has now been over six weeks, and no TFN or further correspondence has been received. We have attempted to contact the ATO multiple times via 13 28 61, but the line disconnects after the automated prompts, stating that there is a high volume of calls. We have not been able to speak to an agent.

She is currently unable to commence employment until she receives her TFN, and we are running out of options. We would greatly appreciate guidance on how to escalate this matter or any alternative contact methods that may be available.

Thank you for your time and assistance.
