Hi All, couple or questions please:

1. Can the form be electronically signed? And if so are there additional requirements - e.g. provision of the audit trail re signing, or anything else?

2. Is there any way to avoid the excess contributions process, which seems likely given the anticipated processing time? I know the excess issue gets resolved once the request form is processed, but it would be great to be able to head this off at the pass, so to speak. Thank you

Hi @BHenn,

Without knowing what form you're directly asking about, it really depends on the type of form and how you're lodging it.

These days, many forms are returned electronically. When submitted through your ATO Online Services, your login and declaration often count as your electronic signature since it’s a secure channel.

Regarding your excess contribution question, if the system picks up that your reported contributions exceed the cap, it will likely still trigger the excess process, even if you know it’ll be resolved once your release request is processed.

You can request for a contribution to be disregarded, and I’d recommend double-checking with your super fund to make sure they're reporting your contributions correctly.
