Do I need to lodge 2 tax returns if I am a sole trader + have a part time job?

You only lodge one income tax return because every taxpayer pays tax on their total taxable income regardless.

If you try to lodge two seperate returns in order to try and reduce your tax payable all that will happen is that is will be picked up by the ATO systems and you will be flagged for audit purposes.
