Hi all,

I was audited for my 2025 return, after I received the “audit finalised” notice I went onto the ATO calculator to calculate the difference of my original claim to the now audited version. When I first submitted, the estimate was $9500, and now when I’ve used the calculator at the rectified deductions the audit and the ato have given me it’s saying $7000, but the ato themselves have told me in the audit email I’ll be getting $1700 back. It’s currently sitting in balancing account. And I know that they’re only estimates but it’s a huge difference.

I have no debts owing to any govt agency, nor child support or hecs and everything has been calculated correctly, and the ATO advised me they won’t be “charging” me for the audit as it was just a few simple errors I made.

im just wondering as to why the calculator states 7000, and the ato are saying 1700? It’s a huge difference and now my emails are going unanswered. And if I amend my return will I get audited automatically again? Will I now be flagged to them if I resubmit?

Its best to leave it to the ATO and don't worry about what is showing during the processing stage.

If you have been audited you need to let the ATO proceed with any adjustments they made, and if you try to circumvent and undo what the ATO have done then you will get audited again, and next time they may take further action like increase any penalties or even refer you for prosecution.
