I am going through a parenting, property and financial settlement now in federal courts with my ex husband. He worked as a sole trader on his ABN as a real estate agent and now during separation settlement he is trying to diminish asset pool by shifting 50% of his tax evasion to me. I did not have any know how on his tax purposes and only managed my individual tax returns which were on tfn. Am I responsible for his debt which is approx $320,000 calculated from 2015 to 2025 which he has now lodged as adjustment giving excuse that he forgot to lodge correctly and is on his sole name. My only concern is that after all liabilities not including tax debt the family asset pool is just around $500k and if he manages to shift responsibility to me, I will not have anything left for my kids future as I have sole parenting with no support from my ex as he is showing zero income but has funds to pay lawyers.

This is a legal matter that needs to be addressed by a family law specialist. Please get your own representation in your settlement.
