I have lodged my return on the 10th July 2025 for the financial year 2024/2025. App is saying that outcome will be finalised by 21st July but still nothing. Have tried calling both ATO and MyGov phone numbers numerous times but keep getting a reply of "We're too busy" and hangs up on me. No option for call back or anything like that. Not sure where it's stuck at as both on the app and online it's saying "balancing account". Anyone know how I can speak to a human to find out what's happening?? Thanks Adrian

Mine has been balancing and processing since 4th Jul and there is nowhere to speak to a real person. So bad

Balancing account does mean we're either doing a manual check of the return or we're waiting on third party data (often from other government agencies). We'll contact you if we need you to clarify any details. Once we have everything we need, we can finalise and issue any refunds.


We are very busy at tax time and taking calls from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday. We recommend calling closer to the start and finish times.
