My daughter needs a Linking Code to be able to lodge her first tax return. She is busy every day after school, so gets home at about 5pm to 5.30pm. Every time we call we get the "sorry, we are too busy to take your call". So when the end of October rolls around and she hasn't been able to lodge a tax return, are you going to pay the fine?

She can also call first thing in the morning during weekdays as their phone lines open at 7 AM, and they are also open on the weekends !!!!
Call 132 307 and select option 1.
The myGov helpdesk is open during local Australian time zones:

Nope. The number to get a Linking Code is only open Mon-Fri 8am-6pm. Check the website, and that's what the recorded message says too.

I just phoned that MyGov number I gave you and there is an option to get a linking code for ATO and my estimated wait time is 10 minutes !!! ... TRY IT !!!
Tried it. Open M-F from 8.00am.
Did you eventually try that myGov number??? I actually phoned it and the waiting time was 10 minutes
That myGov 132307 has an option for ATO linking coces
My daughter is actually off school, sick today. We have tried this option a few times, and still get told the same thing, and get hung up on. It maybe 10 mins for Medicare, but not for ATO Linking Code.
I tried just after I posted my reply which was after 5pm.....
