Advice given by ATO is to use myid to log in to mygov. If you need to update your mobile number (for SMS token) then this road blocks myID from use, as you need to sign into mygov to link myid in the first instance, and when you attempt this (with an old mobile number) it sends the SMS to my old number. I know my password, security questions... I answered all correctly, nothing matters unless I had this old mobile number, which I don't.


Only solution seems to create another mygovWhy cant mygov just update my mobile number and everything will fix itself? Why do I have to create another my gov ID? If creating a second ID is the only solution should I use a new email address? People are having issues when they use a new email address and also when they don't.


Currently on hold with customer spport. Seriously scratching my head on how to move forward with this....?

If you disposed of your old phone number that was linked to myID or myGov before you changed your phone details then creating a new myID is the only solution. I had to do this and as part of it they "released" the email that was attached to myGov which deleted that myGov account completely.


Unfortantely, if they have not come up with another solution your going to have to create another account and I know its a real pain.
