So not user friendly!! Changed word several times, still can't login. Used digital ID...go back to myGov nothing happens, word doesn't work...errors come up. Don't receive codes on SMS, only email. Basically this crap if going to this app, then back to this app is rubbish,!! I'm pretty computer savvy...but can't get this to work!!

Can't get anyone to talk to....does anyone have a simple version of how to work it?PLEASE

You summed it up pretty well. You can't expect the government to come up with an app that actually works and is user friendly when they can't work out how to stop hackers creating duplicate myGov accounts which is costing them hundreds of millions every year, I think they have become tone deaf to the situation and they might as well just put hackers on their payroll so taxpayers aren't affected anymore.


You do have choices, get rid of the app and just go back to myGov for PC, go to a tax agent or keep putting up with the app and contact the myGov help desk.

Can I just confirm, are these errors appearing when you are trying to log into the MyGov platform directly using your username, password and verification code? Or when trying to access MyGov through the myID app?


I want to try and get you pointed in the right direction - myID has some links on their page about error codes and messages and accessing your myID that may help.


If you do need to call myID, it might be helpful to make sure all the normal IT steps have been taken, like:

  • is the app updated to the latest version?
  • is it installed on an approved device?
  • are you logging in with the exact same credentials? - This includes correct use of upper and lower-case letters (as it may be case sensitive).

If the issue is with MyGov itself, you will have to contact their help desk.


I'd recommend trying to call at the end of their operating hours right now, as it's still peak tax time.
