I am a non-resident applicant based in the United States and I’m applying for an Australian Business Number (ABN) for my US-registered company. I’ve already completed the online ABN application and received a reference number:

Before sending my certified identity documents and the NAT 75272 cover sheet, I would like to confirm the exact list of supporting documents you require for a smooth application process.

Could you please provide a clear checklist of all required certified documents for:

  1. My US-registered LLC, and
  2. Myself as the authorised contact person.

I would also appreciate guidance on:

  • Acceptable certifiers for documents issued in the United States (e.g., notary public, consular officials).
  • Preferred delivery method for submitting the cover sheet and documents (email, fax, or postal mail).

For a foreign company, you'll need to provide certified copies of your certificate of registration showing the legal name of your entity and details of all associates (directors, partners, trustees).


For yourself as the authorised contact person, you'll need certified copies of your identity documents such as your passport, national photo identification card, or driver's licence.


In the US, documents can be certified by notary publics, staff at Australian embassies, high commissions, consulates (including Austrade-headed consulates), and honorary consuls. They must physically sight your original documents, sign, and annotate the copies with wording similar to "I have sighted the original document and certify this to be a true and correct copy".


For delivery, you'll need to attach the NAT 75272 coversheet to both your application reference number and certified documents, then mail them to:
