Hello Community,

I used to live and work in Australia under a Working Holiday Visa at first then turned to Temporary Working Visa due to covid-19.

I returned to my home country 2 years ago and I am now trying to claim my superannuation.

However, I’ve noticed that my super is still held by my super fund, as I can still see the balance in my super fund’s mobile app. That means it's held by superfund right?

Could you please advise me on the correct steps to claim it?

Here are some details that might help:

1 My Visa has expired, and I am no longer in Australia.

2 The balance in my super account is over AUD 5,000.

3 I renewed my passport after returning home, but I still have the old one that was linked to my visa.

4 My Australian bank account is still active.

Thank you for your advice.

Cee

Have you read the DASP advice yet?

Check this out as it has the rules and online versus firm based application

Consider if you are coming back in the future. It's pretty awesome here.

Hi @Cee789,

Since you worked in Australia on temporary visas that have now expired and you've left Australia, you're eligible to claim your super as a Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP).

Yes, your super is still with your super fund. Since your balance is over $5,000, you'll likely need to provide certified copies of your proof of identification documents with your application.

You can apply for your DASP through the DASP online application system. Having your old passport that was linked to your visa will be helpful for identification purposes. Your active Australian bank account can be used to receive the payment.

Hi@NikkiATO

Should I get the 'certified copies of your proof of identification documents' ready before applying on the DASP online application system? Or I can provide the documents later if I find out it's necessary.

Thank you, and have a good one.
