Hi All,

I'm a Kiwi living in New Zealand, I used to live in Australia from 2010 to 2013, I moved back to NZ due to family being unwell. I'm looking to relocate back to Australia in approximately 12-24 months.

What would be the best way to gain access to my ATO account? I no longer use the email and phone number that would have been associated with that account at the time. I think I was using [external link removed by moderator] emails at the time and back then my phone number was with [removed by moderator].

I'm now using a [external link removed by moderator] email and I'm using a NZ mobile number, I wouldn't have a clue what my [external link removed by moderator] passwords are.

Thanks in advance from a confused Kiwi.

Hi @fzydrnk,

If you’re trying to access your ATO online services but no longer have access to the email or mobile number linked to your account, you’ll need to update your details and verify your identity before you can log back in.

The best way to do this is by setting up your access again through myGov. If you’ve forgotten your myGov login details or can’t recover them, you’ll need to create a new myGov account and link it to the ATO. During the linking process, you’ll be asked to verify your identity using personal information such as your TFN, bank account details (from where your tax refund was deposited), or a notice of assessment.

If you can’t verify your identity online, you’ll need to call our overseas number (Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm AEDT). We’ll ask you some questions to confirm your identity and help you update your contact details so you can access your account again.
