About 18 months ago, I accessed my own super for weight loss surgery. Shortly after, but before I could pay for my surgery we fell in to hardship when I became unemployed, we used the money withdrawn from my super to pay the household bills and keep a roof over our head.

Now that I am employed and stable again, I would like to re visit the weight loss surgery but cannot access my own super, so my question is, can we use my wife’s super for my surgery, even though we have already accessed one lot of super for this surgery ?

Compassionate release of super can be permitted for dependents, @Daniel , but I wonder if the ATO might notice that the expenses are identical to those claimed previously by the same patient.

It might be better to deal with the unresolved aspects of your own withdrawal first.
