When I completed my 2024 tax return, there was a $7000 FBT pre filled on my return. I wasn't sure what it was so left it there. I have since learnt that my employer never reported any FBT so where did this come from and how do I get it removed? I can't remove it by amending the tax return and I can't get hold of the ATO to speak to someone who can help me fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hiya @Dearlove1 👋
The employment income pre-filled into your tax return is sourced from the employer reporting: either via STP as your Income Statement or via a Payment Summary (PSAR).
Typically, it will be your Income Statement. Review your income statement and if they reported RFBA (FBT is an employer tax, Reportable Fringe Benefits Amount is the grossed-up value of fringe benefits attributed to you). If they did, contact your employer and enquire about its source.
For example, if you have salary sacrifice arrangements other than to superannuation, or if there are other employer-provided benefits. These amounts are grossed-up by 1.8868 times and reported as RFBA. RFBA amounts are considered for government benefits.
If, instead, they made a mistake, they must issue an amendment that may require you to amend your tax return.
