My visa expired in April 2025 and I departed Australia, but did not apply for DASP.

In October some part of my super, was sent to ATO(I have two super funds).

In November i got a new visa to Australia. My question is;

  1. Can I still apply for DASP now that I have a new visa granted?
  2. What happens to the super transferred to ATO, and the other still with the super fund?
  3. Do i have to apply for a new TFN when I come back onshore?

Hello @Sj94,

That'll depend on a few things.

1: Can I still apply for DASP now that I have a new visa granted?

That can depend on the nature of the new visa (Temp/Perm), and if you meet the definition of a Former Temporary resident (prior visa expired and you've been absent for at least 6 months).

If you are classed as an FTR then you'll only be able to apply for a DASP with the ATO and not the superfund, if you come back on a PR visa.

2: What happens to the super transferred to ATO, and the other still with the super fund?

The money transferred to the ATO will sit there until you're eligible to claim it, and will not be reduced by fees. The money sitting in the superfund will be subject to fees and will reduce in amount until it too is transferred to the ATO.

3: Do i have to apply for a new TFN when I come back onshore?

No you won't need a new TFN. You're TFN is for life and will be waiting for you to re-use when you return. 👌
