My husband would like me to retire when I turn 60 (my preservation age) I currently work casual for them hours differ each week. My understanding is I can take my super as a lump sum and still work less than 10 hours per week eg.... 9.5 hrs per week. Do I still receive employer super contributions even only working less than 10 hrs per week? And if so do I need to open a new super account for those monies to go into. My super fund says that any monies after I take my lump sum will be preserved until aged 65? I would still like to work at least one day a week to give me a day out of the house and some pocket money as I don't have a lot in my super but it will pay a large chuck of our mortgage.

Yes - if you closed the old account.

Not if you are retired = working less than 10 hours pw.

Thank you, so once I retire in a few weeks, my current employer has asked if I can still work under the 10 hours per week which is great. I will be closing my current super fund taking all the balance to pay on the mortgage, and opening up a new one for any monies paid in super on my wages doing the under 10hrs a week, which won't be much. So how long until any monies going into the new fund have to stay there before it can be withdrawn. I probably only have a few more years left of doing the under 10 hours per week I know there won't be much in there at the time of no work at all

Can I still stay with my current employer doing under the 10 hrs a week in the same capacity, I currently only work casual for them doing approx 20 hrs a week and have done so for the last 12 months, but will go down to the under 10 hrs in a few weeks
