Hi @Dannyg0075,
When it comes to being late with your tax lodgments or owing money, we do really want to help and there are payment options we can talk about.
For tax purposes, you should still lodge your tax return based on what you actually earned, even if your employer hasn’t done the right thing. If you have multiple payslips and different payment sources, you can use those to work out your income.
If you’re worried about getting it wrong, you can check your income statement in ATO online services (through myGov). This shows what your employer has reported to us. If the amounts don’t match your records, you can still lodge using your correct figures and keep your evidence.
If you believe your employer hasn’t reported cash sales or has falsified employment records, you’ve done the right thing by submitting a tip-off. That’s the best way to alert us. You can add documents to your existing tip-off, using the online form. Give the tip-off reference number you received previously.
An audit can be triggered by discrepancies in reporting, patterns of underpayment, or information from tip-offs, but we can’t confirm if or when that will happen.
Wage theft, threats, and unpaid entitlements are workplace law issues. You should contact the Fair Work Ombudsman. They handle underpayment, changes to employment status, and breaches of workplace rights.
