Hi - I was on a WHV and have left Australia. Immi said they cannot cancel my visa but it won’t expire until 7 months after I left. Will I lose my super? Is there anyway to still claim my DASP? Help!

Hi @Jg2jess,
Good news - you won't lose your super and you can still claim your DASP. However, you can't submit your DASP application yet because your visa is still active, even though you've left Australia.
Here's what you need to know about the timing:
- You can only submit a DASP application after you've left Australia and don't hold an active visa.
- Since your visa won't expire for another 7 months, you'll need to wait until then.
- Once your visa expires, you can then apply for your DASP through the online system or paper forms.
If you don't apply for your DASP within 6 months after your visa expires, your super fund will likely transfer your money to us as unclaimed super. Don't worry, this doesn't mean you lose it. You can still claim it from us as a DASP later on.
To claim ATO-held super as DASP, you can use the DASP online application system or complete the paper form for ATO-held super.
Start preparing now by gathering your documents and noting your super fund details. Once your visa expires, you'll be eligible to submit your DASP application.
Hello, now my visa has expired and I have gone to claim my DASP. However, it tells me not to since I have had a WHM visa. What does that mean and what do I do? Thanks
Hey @Jg2jess,
The system isn’t letting you continue because it’s detected that you’ve held a Working Holiday Maker (WHM) visa during your time in Australia. This doesn’t mean you can’t claim your DASP - it’s just letting you know that this info will affect the tax rate applied to your payment.
The visa screen shows whether you’ve ever held a WHM visa (subclass 417 or 462), not just your most recent visa. It's then passed on to your super fund so they can apply the correct DASP tax rate.
If you never held a WHM Visa whilst in Australia, you should email our DASP mailbox to report the visa issue and don't submit your application until resolved.
