I've attempted to resolve this issue with phone calls and now a secure email from my tax agent practice portal however currently I have no solution. My registered BAS agent number login to the portal is linked to an old Family Trust that I used to practice under. I've been told verbally by various specialists in the tax department this is due to issues dating back to 2010 and a soft wear update between the ATO and the Tax Practitioners Board and to simple remove the Trust link (which has now been vested) is problematic. I've had no response to the email that I've sent via the tax agent portal asking for a whole of practice transfer.
I need to cancel the ABN of the family trust as it's been vested but if I do this I might not be able to login online to the tax agent portal and access my clients and be able to continue to make lodgements etc
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
