I'm a dual UK and NZ citizen who lived and worked in Australia for 5 years. I've now moved back to the UK and want to access my inactive Super fund payments.

As NZ citizen I lived and worked in Australia without the need to apply for a work visa. I've tried to complete a DASP application but it doesn't allow me to progress as there is no visa that has been cancelled when I left the country. This seems to mean that I can't access my super funds unless I move back to NZ and reside there and transfer the funds to a Super account in that country.

But, I have moved back to the UK and now live there permanently.

I seem to be in limbo land. Does any one have any advice for someone in my situation please? I surely should be able to access my super that I've accumulated while in Australia.

Hi @kesdeg,

If you are a NZ citizen you cannot access your super under DASP. You may still request your super balance to be transferred to a Kiwisaver scheme. Alternately you would need to wait until you meet a condition of release for accessing your super. Whilst we administer the tax and super laws, we do not write the legislation.

Meanwhile you could check on early access to super eligibility here, or NZ if you choose to transfer it.

Please use the links for further assistance.

Transferring super via kiwi saver scheme.

Accessing your super early.

All the best.
