Dear Community members,

My spouse is not working and has no income. Hence I contribute $3000 each year and get the benefit of a $540 tax offset.

However, in 2021-22 I genuinely forgot to put $3000 into her super and only realised it after 30th June 2022. Can I still put the amount into her super now (in August 2022) and still claim the offset when I file my tax for 2021-22?

I checked the ATO site and could not find any references to how unutilized previous year caps can be used when it comes to Spouse Super contributions. If someone can please clarify, it would be very helpful.

Thanks.

To be eligible for the offset in your 2022 tax return, the fund would need to have received the contribution on of before 30 June 2022. Unfortunately there is no opportunity to pay this amount later.
