Hi there,

I am currently doing tax returns for my kids and they are both under 15 years old. I am pretty sure they don't have TFN numbers and I am not sure how much they exactly earned last year because they have their agent get the wages from employers and then pay us.

So what can I do for tax return purposes and how can I know how much in total they have earned from last year?

Thank you!

Hi @bestwilliamtao

Your children should have a Tax File Number (TFN) to lodge tax returns, without the TFN there will be no record on our systems to process the return against.

The TFN application or enquiry for individuals - instructions will guide you on how to apply and who can sign the application.

The agent should have records of payments your children have received, they can provide the details to you, generally employers are required to obtain TFN’s from their employees this includes minors as they have special withholding obligations they are required to follow when TFN’s are not provided by employees.
