Howdy All,
In the 21/22 Tax year my wife started working towards the end of the year after having kids. Consequently she was below the co-contribution earnings threshold. We put $1000 into her super, but never got the $500 co-contribution. I raised a query with the ATO and many months later we were contacted via phone. The guy said that because her super fund had not received any SG contributions from her employer that FY (she received them at the start of the following FY) then she was not eligable for the co-contribution. Ok, fair enough we said and closed the investigation with him. Anyway, I've been looking around subsequently and can see no requirement to have SG contributions as an eligibility requirement to receive the co-contribution amount.
All I can find is the income threshold and 10% eligable income test, both of which she satisfies.
Can anyone provide advice around this? Point me in the direction of where this requirement is stated?
Thanks,
Dan.
