Hi all,
I’m currently in the process of deregistering two Australian companies through Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). I’ve already submitted the Form 6010 – Voluntary Deregistration applications and have received notification that final lodgements need to be completed before the deregistration can be finalised.
I’m trying to clarify the exact process for lodging a final / nil (zero) company tax return with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), particularly where the companies:
- Have had no trading activity
- I have lodged ZERO returns for recent years
- Need to be finalised purely to complete deregistration
My questions:
- Is there a specific “final” or “zero return” form, or do I just lodge the standard Company Tax Return and mark it as final?
- If the company had no activity, is lodging a nil return sufficient, or are there additional steps required?
- Can this be lodged directly via ATO Online Services for Business, or paper copy
- Are there any additional final obligations I should be aware of, such as:
- Is there a direct ATO portal or link where I can complete the final return myself?
Any guidance, links, or step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
