My husband’s father worked for many years at the Ford automobile factory in Australia. He returned to Türkiye but passed away a long time ago. We do not know how much pension contribution the factory where he worked in Australia paid. If records exist, we would appreciate it if you could provide this information. My husband's mother also worked for many years in a biscuit factory in Australia. She is still alive, but unfortunately very old and doesn't remember much. Therefore, we are trying to find out about my husband's parents' pension insurance contributions and other entitlements. King regards

Hi @ferahkocademir,

It can be difficult trying to locate records from many years ago, especially when family members are no longer able to recall details.

In Australia, superannuation (pension) contributions are generally held by individual super funds, rather than the ATO. Because of this, we don’t hold full employment or contribution histories for people who worked here in the past.

Your husband's parents would need to contact the super funds directly where contributions were made during their employment. If they don't know which fund held their super, they can search for lost super.

If your husband's father had unclaimed super transferred to the ATO before he passed away, there may be options to claim this as a beneficiary. You would need to provide documents such as proof of death and evidence of your relationship.

For your husband's mother, she can check if she has any super held by the ATO or by super funds. She would need her Tax File Number to search for this information. If she's unsure which super fund held her contributions from the biscuit factory, a search for lost or unclaimed super can help identify any accounts.

You could contact our superannuation line for help searching for any super held by us.
