Tax return was lodged on 19th July. The ATO app says it is in balancing, with an estimated issue date of 2 August 2023, that's nearly a month ago. I have called and you cannot provide any updates, only noting it requires manual processing. If it is manually processing, surely a human is involved, and you should have some indication as to when it shall be processed. Additionally, you have not notified myself or my Tax Agent by SMS, email or alternate means of the delay, nor have you updated the estimated issue date? With today's technology, I would not have thought providing clearer information to us would be that challenging.
Hello @craigmcp
I hope your return is processed soon. There are a number of reasons a return can be delayed so the processing times vary. You could check your eligibility for priority processing if you are waiting for an urgent refund. I know that's a generic response, but we can only provide general info in this community.

Appreciate that Tony and understand you are only here to provide thought. But what bemuses me is calling the ATO gets similar response. My concern is the inability for the ATO to provide clarity on the situation. these people are paid to perform a task, yet they dont know where or what is happening. Its the lack of information provided, or inability to provide it that is the issue.
